Furthermore, lot 122 at Baker University Center will be closed on July 16 for painting.

  • Friday, June 13 - 7am to Midnight

The following week begins the Summer Break schedule, which can be viewed on our Hours of Operation page.

Due to a floor refinishing project in several dining spaces within Baker Center the following venues will be closed from June 16 through June 22, 2008.

  • The Front Room Coffeehouse
  • Latitude 39 Restaurant
  • West 82 Food Court (except for The Fast Lane, which will be open from 7:30am to 2pm, June 16 through June 21)

Facilities Management’s HVAC Shop is diligently working to resolve these problems.

In an effort to reduce the internal heat in the buildings please shut off lights, coffee pots, copy machines, computers, etc., if possible when not in use.

Facilities Management and Baker University Center Administration regrets any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience.

A department in the Division of Student Affairs, Baker University Center Administration has been developing the new site in response to customer and visitor comments, requests and needs realized during its first year and a half in operation. Several new features help not only represent Baker Center on the Web, but assist in event planning and coordination, as well as interaction with the Center’s administrative staff and tenants.

Some of the new features include:

  • Accurate search across the site to quickly find what you need
  • Quick and easy access to reservations information
  • Blog-based (syndicated) updates and entertainment listings
  • Detailed information about and photos of every reservable space in the Center (and those across campus reserved through Baker Center)
  • Center photo galleries and access to high resolution versions of most photos
  • Comprehensive information about offices, amenities, parking, directions and policies pertaining to the Center

While all information available on the old Baker University Center Web site is still available on the new version of the site, some of it has slightly changed location, so frequent users may want to re-bookmark their regularly accessed pages. Most notably, the changes include:

  • Digital Display Promotions: Now located in the ‘Promotions’ area of the Reservable Spaces page
  • Building Directory: Now located in organized areas of the Offices/Services page
  • Student Employment: Will be listed within the Updates section when employment opportunities are available

While we hope site visitors and users find the new version to be helpful and informative, we want to hear from you regarding ideas you may have to make it even better. Please visit our Staff page to find the appropriate person to get in touch with and help us make the Baker University Center Web site as great a resource as the facility is to Ohio University.

First priority areas include restrooms, atrium space, conference rooms and the food court. All of these spaces will be cleaned daily.

Professional spaces have been identified as secondary areas and will only be cleaned twice a week. The two days within Baker Center that professional spaces will be cleaned are Tuesday and Friday and you can expect removal of your trash and recycling and offices being spot vacuumed. Members of office staff within Baker Center should place any food/perishable trash in one of the common areas to ensure prompt removal.

If you have any cleaning concerns please notify Angela Davis, Associate Director for Operations, in writing.

The construction schedule for the food service addition is from March 24, 2008. to August 29, 2008. The heavy (noisy) demolition should be completed by Friday April 4, 2008. There should be very little if any jack hammering after Friday.

The next couple of weeks will have backhoes and front end loaders working most days. This should equate to loud engine noise plus dump trucks and concrete trucks being on site during the next two to three weeks.

After this activity of foundation work, the contractor will erect the steel frame by using a crane. At this time Baker University Center does not know how long this activity will take. The contractor is in the process of developing a detail schedule for UPI to review. It is our sincere hope that within two weeks to have a detailed schedule of the construction that we can share with all people affected by this project. On behalf of Baker University Center we are truly sorry for the disturbance.
