Join us on September 28th at 11AM for the second event in our Children’s Mental Health Seminar Series, Identifying and Treating Depression in Youth, featuring Sarah Gurney, LICSW, and Courtney Muller, LICSW, Staff Clinicians at the Center for Effective Therapy at the Baker Center. In this seminar, Sarah Gurney and Courtney Muller will explore how we can support children and teens by identifying and securing effective treatment for depression. There is no cost to attend. We will leave time for questions at the end.

Meet The Speakers

Sarah Gurney, LICSW - Staff Social Worker

Sarah is a licensed independent clinical social worker and a Staff Social Worker at The Center for Effective Therapy. Sarah specializes in working with youth experiencing anxiety, behavioral issues, trauma and stressor related disorders, and difficulty adjusting to challenging life events. Trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Collaborative Problem Solving, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Sarah is passionate about helping youth and families live their best lives through addressing mental health needs, managing stress, and building skills to solve problems. Sarah believes in building on the individual’s and family’s strengths as the key element in growth and healing.

Courtney Muller, LICSW - Staff Social Worker

Courtney Muller is a licensed independent clinical social worker and a Staff Social Worker at The Center for Effective Therapy. Courtney specializes in family therapy and has worked with families in many settings including family court, public school, in-home services, and outpatient clinics. Experienced in supporting the whole family as they navigate complex systems, identities, and experiences, Courtney is curious and collaborative, partnering with youth and families to understand where they have been and where they hope to be. She specializes in working with LGBTQ families and youth, and with adolescents struggling with anxiety, depression, and trauma. Courtney is trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and other evidence-based models. Courtney believes that every member of the family system can learn skills that can positively impact the family’s functioning, and is passionate about helping parents and caregivers feel empowered and equipped to lead their children towards healing and growth that can continue beyond therapy and into the future.
