Professional Training and Development

In collaboration with our direct service programs, we offer experiences for graduates of doctoral programs seeking professional development and training in evidence-based practices. We offer fellowship opportunities for recent graduates as well as established professionals who are interested in re-specializing. Trainees spend a year or more inside our direct service programs building advanced skills to help children succeed.

Position Title

Clinical Postdoctoral Fellowship in School Based Mental Health and Special Education

The Clinical Postdoctoral Fellowship in School Based Mental Health and Special Education is a position at the Manville School, a therapeutic day school located at The Baker Center for Children and Families. The Manville School is an out of district placement for students from kindergarten through 10th grade who experience emotional, neurological, or learning difficulties that have impacted their ability to succeed in previous school settings. The clinical postdoctoral fellow will carry a caseload of up to 8 students enrolled in the Manville School. The fellow will serve as their student’s clinician and case manager, which will include the delivery of individual therapy, consultation with classroom teams, family therapy/parent training (as applicable), and collaboration with both internal and external support services and providers. The postdoctoral fellow will receive training and supervision in evidence-based interventions for children and adolescents, including potential certification in the Modular Approach to Therapy for Children (MATCH). Applicants will also receive supervision consistent to meet Massachusetts psychology licensure requirements in the course of the fellowship year.

Position Title

Clinical Postdoctoral Fellowship in Evidence-Based Youth Psychotherapy 

The Clinical Postdoctoral Fellowship in Evidence-Based Youth Psychotherapy experience focuses primarily on the delivery of mental health assessments and short-term psychotherapy to children and adolescents ages 2 to 19 as well as their families. The postdoctoral fellow can expect to gain experience with a wide range of psychopathology, with a focus on anxiety, depression, traumatic stress, and disruptive behavior disorders. The postdoctoral fellow will receive training and supervision in evidence-based models for child and adolescent assessment and psychotherapy. Treatments center around cognitive-behavioral therapy for anxiety and depression as well as behavioral parent training techniques for disruptive behavior disorders.

Position Title

Postdoctoral Fellowship in Implementation Science, Quality Improvement, and Evidence-Based Child and Adolescent Therapy

The Postdoctoral Fellowship in Implementation Science, Quality Improvement, and Evidence-Based Child and Adolescent Therapy is a joint implementation/clinical postdoctoral fellowship. The postdoctoral fellow will spend 50% of their time assisting with behavioral health implementation and quality improvement initiatives, acting as a liaison between project staff, trainers, and community partners receiving training and/or technical assistance. The postdoctoral fellow will spend the other 50% of their time delivering mental health assessments and short-term psychotherapy to children and adolescents ages 2 to 19 as well as their families. Treatments center around cognitive-behavioral therapy for anxiety and depression as well as behavioral parent training techniques for disruptive behavior disorders.
