Clinical Practicum in Evidence-Based Youth Psychotherapy
The practicum experience is between 16 - 24 hours (two to three days) per week and focuses primarily on the delivery of short-term psychotherapy to children and adolescents ages 2 to 19 as well as their families. Trainees can expect to gain experience with a wide range of psychopathology, with a focus on anxiety, depression, traumatic stress, and disruptive behavior disorders. Treatments center around cognitive-behavioral therapy for anxiety and depression as well as behavioral parent training techniques for disruptive behavior disorders.

Position Title
Clinical Practicum in School-Based Mental Health and Special Education
The trainee will carry a caseload of at least 4 students enrolled in the Manville School by the end of the year. As clinicians and case managers for these students, the trainee will provide individual therapy sessions and will serve as co-leaders in group therapy services. In addition, family contact is essential and often clinically indicated, and may include parent training and formal family therapy. In their roles as case managers, trainees will coordinate the service planning and service delivery of a student’s interdisciplinary Manville team. The trainee also facilitates communication between Manville staff and any outside providers working with the child and family.

Undergraduate Counselor
Dates of employment for the Undergraduate Counselor position are Friday, July 1, 2022 through Friday, August 19, 2022 (counselors will get Monday, July 4th off). Undergraduate Counselors’ hours of employment will be from 7:30am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday. In addition, Undergraduate Counselors will continue to work until 6:00pm one evening each week while parents participate in parent training groups. Undergraduate Counselors are paid $1,000. In addition, current students may be able to arrange for academic course credit or clinical training hours through their university departments.

Graduate Counselor
Dates of employment for the Graduate Counselor position are Friday, July 1, 2022 through Friday, August 19, 2022 (counselors will get Monday, July 4th off). Graduate Counselors’ hours of employment will be from 7:30am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday. In addition, Graduate Counselors will continue to work until 6:00pm one evening each week while parents participate in parent training groups. Graduate Counselors are paid $2,500. Graduate Counselors gain direct face-to-face clinical intervention experience, supervision, and didactic training that count toward clinical hours requirements. Practicum and academic credits often can be arranged through a Graduate Counselor’s own program.
