Health

Overview

Health Program

Health education includes topics that focus on Physical, Emotional and Social health. These include, but are not limited to nutrition, sleep, exercise, hygiene, self-esteem, peer relationships, smoking, drug and alcohol education and systems of the human body. Each class deals with these topics in age-appropriate ways that are tailored to students’ maturity levels.

Age Appropriate Curriculum

At each level, the health unit includes information on male/female physiology and reproduction, appropriate to students’ developmental levels. The Middle School curriculum includes information about the physical and emotional changes related to puberty as well as physical safety. The Upper School curriculum includes information on responsible decision-making and peer pressure.

Heart-to-Heart Program

As part of Health, Upper School students participate in the one-week Heart-to-Heart program that addresses healthy decision-making by teens. Parents receive information prior to the beginning of the Health Unit and can discuss their questions and/or concerns.
